RÉMI PESCE,
LIFE OF AN ARTIST IN SAINT-PAUL DE VENCE

To become the artist he is today, Rémi has taken an unusual path: meeting film makers and painters during his 10 years at La Colombe d’Or; friendships with Paul Roux, Manfredo Borsi and César; an innate but hidden creative gift; and his curiosity, reflected in an extravagant imaginary world.

In the studio

A studio on Chemin du Cercle is the setting for Rémi Pesce's universe. Here, he explores several paths: sculpture, painting, mastering new materials like polystyrene… He has created a baroque bestiary featuring Lucky the horse, the village’s lucky charm, made from 3,000 horseshoes to match the number of villagers in Saint Paul de Vence. Lucky calmly surveys the western ramparts to the delight of his many admirers.

Despite his all-absorbing work in the studio, Remy remains abreast of earth-shaking events. The tragic Twin Towers attack in September 2001 shook him to his core; he expressed his horror in tragic paintings, using formats he’d never before explored.
