CHIARA CAPELLINI
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AT THE FONDATION CAB
From 2 January to 28 February 2025
OPEN STUDIO on Saturday 15 February 2025 from 4pm to 6pm.
Fondation CAB Saint-Paul de Vence is pleased to present its 9th artist-in-residence, Chiara Capellini (1981, Milan).
She paints using a process of material subtraction, in order to reach the minimum possible and the depths of vision. Remaining in nothing eliminates noise and allows us to contemplate the essential, infinitely. With her painting, she seeks a place to admire, an endless quantum place.
Also on show is a monumental work by artist Mathias Bensimon entitled ‘Infinitésimal’.
At the crossroads of art and science, ‘Infinitésimal’ is an immersive work that plunges viewers into a reflection on quantum physics and the very nature of perception. Inspired by the work of physicist Jim Al Khalili on the role of quantum physics in the living, the artist questions the links between inanimate and animate matter, blurring the boundaries between biology and quantum physics.
Since 2015, the artist has been drawing on the work of astrophysicist David Elbaz and collaborating with physicist Maxime Jacquet at the Sorbonne, working on the movement of light. This partnership between art and science becomes a conversation between two universes, where light is explored not just as a physical phenomenon, but as a symbol of perception and connection to the world. Art and science are two ways of looking at and establishing a direct and personal link with the world.
