Creation of a northern access road through the Royal bastion

Plans for access by vehicle were discussed with the town Council on the 14th November 1884.

On the 15th February 1886, the Mayor informed the town Council about a project to create a carriageway on the north side, the estimated costs of which were 4,500 Francs.

This was approved on the 7th January 1889: a hole was bored through the left side of the Royal bastion and a 205-metre road was laid, up to the Saint-Paul courtine.
