The Maeght Foundation

The first independent art foundation in France, they conceived it in collaboration with the Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert in 1964. The artists personally participated in its conception and realization, each appropriating a space of the future foundation. Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder and Fernand Léger all found it an ideal place to create, where the rooms and gardens interact in perfect harmony, facing the village of Saint-Paul de Vence.
A museum in nature, the Maeght Foundation brings together one of the most important European collections of works from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Important: The Maeght Foundation is dedicated, according to the wishes of its founders, to modern and contemporary art, which it presents in temporary themed exhibitions and displays of works from the permanent collection. The gardens become the ideal place for monumental sculptures that interact with the surrounding landscape. This collection, which comprises 13,000 works, is also the subject of numerous loans to museums in France and abroad.

The Foundation's summer programme also includes numerous concerts, screenings, workshops and events.
